Medical sources and witnesses confirmed on Friday the death toll of demonstrations in the provinces of Dhi Qar and Najaf to 50 martyrs and wounded 395 others as a result of attacks by security forces on demonstrators on Thursday.
The sources said that "the death toll of the demonstrators in [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/644/%D8%B0%D9%8A %D9%82%D8%A7%D8%B1][size=13]Dhi Qar[/url] rose to 32 martyrs and wounded 245 others, as a result of the massacre committed by security forces after confronting the demonstrators in the city of Nasiriyah with live bullets."
They added that the death toll of demonstrations in Najaf rose to 18 martyrs and wounded 150 others due to excessive force used by riot police towards citizens.
The provinces [url=https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/t/644/%D8%B0%D9%8A %D9%82%D8%A7%D8%B1]of Dhi Qar and[/url] Najaf witnessed a bloody day on Thursday. In the first, security forces resorted to using live bullets and directly towards the demonstrators, resulting in dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries.
In Najaf, in addition to live bullets, security forces used tear gas, killing and injuring dozens of demonstrators.
