    Baghdad / Sky Press

The American newspaper "Washington Post" revealed today, Tuesday, that the administration of US President Donald Trump started to formulate possible sanctions against Iraq, in response to the latter's decision to remove "all foreign forces" from the country.
The newspaper, which obtained its information from three sources familiar with the matter, said that these sanctions are still being examined and will be imposed on Iraq once the US military is expelled or withdraws from it.
This comes after the Iraqi parliament voted on Sunday in favor of a resolution committing the Iraqi government to "work to end the presence of all foreign forces on Iraqi soil" after an American air strike killed the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, in Baghdad last Friday.
The sources indicated that the White House and the Treasury will take the leading role in the event of sanctions, but confirmed that discussions about the sanctions are still preliminary.
And one of the sources said that the plan is to wait "for at least a short period" to know whether Iraqi officials will take steps to expel the American forces or not.
In a related context, global media revealed, yesterday evening, Monday, an official American message, which said that it was sent to the Iraqi leadership, according to which the army intends to withdraw from the country, but soon the American chief of staff, Mark Milli, came out to deny the news, confirming that the message was This is a "draft sent by mistake", even though the message was signed.
A White House official told CNN that Trump expressed concern about the "mistake" that circulated the message, adding that the president asked his aides about the letter and asked them for clarification.
