    The General Company for the Implementation of Transport and Communications Projects at the Ministry of Transport confirmed, today, Thursday, the implementation of the railway connection project with neighboring countries before the end of this year, indicating the need for large financing and land acquisition.


    The general manager of the company, Zaid Khalil Al-Asadi, said in an interview carried by the Iraqi News Agency, that "the railway connection with neighboring countries is taking into account the interest of Iraq, so that it is in parallel with the construction of ports and the transit service, and in a way that serves the transport work," indicating that "Iraq is destined for the connection." The railways, in parallel with the ports file, the Faw port plan includes a dry canal from Basra to Turkey, which should be rehabilitated. "






     
    Al-Asadi added that "the rail projects need large financial coverage because they are gigantic projects and need a lot of money, in addition to the challenge of acquiring land through the designed railway, whether the land belongs to some state institutions or citizens." The time is now to promote this file and create modern railway plans. "
     
    He continued, "Before the end of the year, it is likely that the construction of the railway will be started, especially since some projects are designed and ready, and the implementation companies are also in place, but starting the project requires a decision from the Council of Ministers."
