The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities confirmed, on Sunday, that it submitted recommendations to the Council of Ministers to exempt tourism companies by 50% from fees due to their damage due to the Corona pandemic.
The spokesman for the ministry, Ahmed Al-Olaywi, said, according to the official agency, that "the Corona pandemic has directly affected the tourism sector, both in Iraq and all over the world, so the Ministry's Tourism Authority took the initiative to review this file continuously, and by the decision of the Council of Ministers formed a committee called the committee." Supreme Tourism is headed by Minister of Culture Hassan Nazim and membership of the President of the Tourism Authority and the Head of the Hajj and Umrah Authority in Iraq.
Al-Olawi added, "This committee has submitted recommendations to the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to provide an exemption for tourism companies by 50% of the fees for the past years, especially in the past year 2020 in which the Corona virus swept through Iraq, but so far there has been no clear answer from the secretariat."
