, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant-General Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari, received, on Saturday, Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, Thierry Borcard, at the headquarters of the Joint Operations Command in Baghdad.
The Joint Operations Command said in a statement obtained by Mawazine News that "the two sides discussed ways of joint cooperation, the work of French advisers working within the international coalition in assisting the Iraqi armed forces and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in combating terrorism."
According to the statement, the French chief of staff praised "the Iraqi forces' ability and expertise in combating terrorism and achieving victory over ISIS in record time," stressing "the need to preserve this great victory, and that the role of the French advisors present in Iraq is to provide advice, training and assistance to the Iraqi forces in defeating ISIS."
