    On Wednesday, March 30, 2022, the Parliamentary Finance Committee announced that the Food Security Law will provide 12 meals within the ration card instead of 10 meals.
    Committee member MP Mishaan al-Jubouri said in a statement to the official agency, followed by “Ultra Iraq”, that “during hosting the Minister of Finance in the Parliamentary Finance Committee, the minister expressed his desire to distribute cash to needy groups of Iraqis,” stressing that “in the past, work failed to distribute funds. allocated to support the poor through social welfare, and half of the money did not reach its beneficiaries and was returned to the state.”
    He pointed out that "the implementation of the proposal to distribute the financial revenues to some categories of the people is far away, but until a mechanism for distributing funds is reached," noting that "the law before Parliament (the Food Security Law) will provide sufficient funds to distribute 12 meals among citizens, after it was 10 meals with a meal." additional in the month of Ramadan.
    Al-Jubouri added, "His committee is looking for other means to support the poor, as well as the agricultural sector by supporting the farmer."

    He added that the law "will consume the oil surpluses that were achieved as a result of high prices in opaque projects, which the Ministry of Planning will rely on to enter into work without clarity of strategic vision, but it seems that the inexperience of the new committee prompted the Council of Ministers, which does not have the right to send a mini budget law."
