The Salvation Alliance is about 40 seats away from achieving a two-thirds majority due to the breadth of threats

Baghdad / Tamim Al-Hassan
For the second time in a week, Parliament turns its session devoted to electing the President of the Republic to discussing regular issues. The Council was forced to skip the first paragraph of the agenda of yesterday's session, and go directly to complete the formation of "committees", which is the second paragraph of the table, after the "loyalty" front decreased.
The latter avoided mentioning the number of attendees in yesterday's session, while Mishaan al-Jubouri, a leader in the "Sovereignty" coalition, estimated the numbers as "not exceeding 180", which is 20 seats less than the previous session.
Thus, the “triple alliance” moved further from achieving a two-thirds majority from the previous session, which was missing only 18 deputies, after a political bloc boycotted the session this time, which was present last Saturday.
But despite that, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, seemed more insistent on the project of the political majority, and addressed the boycotting forces, saying: "I will not agree with you."
Al-Sadr said in a tweet on "Twitter" that "I will not agree with you.. Consensus means the end of the country.. No to consensus in all its forms.. What you call political obstruction is easier than agreeing with you and better than sharing the cake with you, there is no good in a consensus government."
Al-Sadr wondered, "How will you agree with the blocs while you are arguing against all the components and all the partners you are trying to win over to your camp."
Al-Sadr addressed the Iraqi people, saying: "I will not bring you back to your previous tragedies, and this is a false promise. The nation will not be subject to subordination, occupation, normalization and quotas...and the people will never bow to them...and peace."
Save the Homeland, which includes the Sadrist movement, the Sunni “Sovereignty” alliance, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, failed for the second time to obtain a two-thirds majority to pass the President of the Republic.
The Federal Court stipulated the presence of at least 220 seats out of 329, in order to achieve a quorum for the session to choose the President of the Republic.
In the event of the failure of the second session, three "scenarios" were proposed in dealing with the current crisis, including dissolving parliament or declaring a state of emergency.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, stressed the need to continue holding the sessions until the quorum for electing the President of the Republic is achieved.
The House of Representatives set last Saturday's session, Wednesday (yesterday), as a second date for electing the President of the Republic.
At Amiri's house
In the other camp, Nuri al-Maliki, the mastermind of the boycott policy, left Hadi al-Amiri's home in central Baghdad, and was followed by Qais al-Khazali, the leader of "Asa'ib".
The “coordinating framework” tried to send messages to public opinion and political forces, that the “president” election session had failed before it began, and therefore they left an hour before it was held, without announcing the number of boycotters.
The boycotters replaced the house of al-Maliki, the former prime minister, with the “villa” of the leader of the Badr Organization, this time in the posh Jadriya area, in which the leaders of the “coordinating body” prayed the congregational prayer and Imam Khazali.
The " frameworks " flocked to the house of the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance, with the date of the parliament session, which was scheduled to take place at 11 in the morning, but it did not take place until two in the afternoon.
The way for the members of the Coordinator to enter the luxury house was furnished with the "red carbide", and they were received in the manner of receiving stars in artistic festivals.
After al-Maliki left the home of the first, Hadi al-Amiri called the National Salvation Alliance, which holds the highest seats in parliament, for "dialogue," speaking of a "new initiative."
Al-Amiri told reporters at the entrance to the house that "the coalition will put forward an initiative that will be studied, which is now under discussion, and will contribute to getting out of the current political crisis."
He added, "We stress the need for there to be a real opposition in Parliament to evaluate the political process," noting that "there is an appropriate opportunity for the tripartite alliance to stand for dialogue and understanding."
On the eve of yesterday's session, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist movement, tried to open channels of communication with most of the boycotting forces, with the exception of the "Coordination Committee".
News leaked out that "Al-Sadr" had contacted the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to persuade him to reverse the decision not to attend the session.
However, the National Union announced, hours before yesterday's session, that it would not attend, and that it adhered to its candidate, Barham Salih, for the presidency.
Likewise, the Azm Alliance, led by Muthanna al-Samarrai, announced that he would not come to the session “without positions.”
The leader of the coalition, Representative Ahmed al-Jubouri, confirmed, on the eve of the session, that the “triple coalition” asked them to attend the session to elect the president of the republic for the purpose of completing the quorum “without giving them any position.”
Al-Jubouri tweeted on Twitter in the colloquial language: "The brothers in the tripartite alliance want to complete a quorum, but without asking them for any ministry or authority until their quota decreases... I mean, positions on them are permissible and we are forbidden."
He added, "With the logic of politics, there is no such thing as (for God, O Mohsenin)."
The position of some of those present in the previous session also reversed, as Shaswar Abdul Wahed stipulated “for the people” obtaining “guarantees.”
"We will not participate in tomorrow's session unless our minimum demands are implemented," Abdel Wahed said in a televised speech on Tuesday evening.
He added, "If some of our demands related to the livelihood of citizens are not implemented by tomorrow, Wednesday, we will not participate in the session."
The coalition, which includes the "New Generation" and "Extension" movements, entered the previous session after saying that it had obtained the approval of the Triple Alliance to implement its conditions, but it was subjected to severe pressure and criticism during the period between the two sessions, according to some leaks.
The conditions of “Save the People” include 17 points, related to the investigation of the incidents of the “Tishreen” demonstrations and the salaries of the “Peshmerga.
