Khazali: Rerunning the elections will shock some

The Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement, Qais al-Khazali, said on Tuesday that most of the blocs and parties that won the recent parliamentary elections “do not have the confidence” to win in the event of a re-polling, and while he announced that the coordination framework has an initiative that he will present this week, he called on the political forces to compromise in order to the Iraqian people.
Khazali said during the Eid al-Fitr prayer sermon, "If the elections are repeated, some political parties will be shocked, and the majority of the winning parties do not have confidence, but rather are certain that they will not obtain the results they obtained."
He added, "If the other political party has an initiative that guarantees the right of the majority, it should present it and we will deal with it with respect," noting that "the coordination framework during the days of Eid will send its initiative to all political forces."
Khazali continued, "The coordinating framework has been presented and is ready to continue to provide more to form the government," but he pointed out that "in the event that each of the political parties adheres to its opinion, it means that there is no solution to the crisis."
He considered that "the constitution, which was written in a certain circumstance and time, has become unable to solve the country's problems," stressing that "any solutions that do not include addressing the constitution, including amending the system of government, is a prosthetic and partial solution."
Khazali stressed that "the military danger and drought facing Iraq require the parties to compromise for the sake of the people," noting that "there are difficult and heavy economic pressures on citizens because of the wrong economic policy."
He cautioned that "there is military progress, on the ground and in the air, deep in Iraqi territory, which was met by weak data from some parties."
The political process is witnessing a blockage and complications that emerged after the announcement of the results of the recent parliamentary elections, and intensified after holding the first session of the Iraqi parliament, where it challenges the coordination framework that includes most Shiite forces except for the Sadrist movement, and with it blocs and independent representatives with those results, while the Sadrist bloc and the Kurdistan Democratic Party went with it And Sunni political forces, represented by the “Sovereignty” coalition, which includes Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi and the leader of the “Azm” alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, to form a government away from the framework that rejects that.
