Shafak News Agency correspondent reported, on Sunday, a decrease in cash sales from the dollar, at the opening of the first auction sessions of the Central Bank of Iraq for this week.
Our correspondent said that the Central Bank sold today, during its auction to buy and sell US dollars, 263 million, 475 thousand, and 289 US dollars, covering it at a base exchange rate of 1460 dinars per dollar.
He added that the cash purchase of dollars by banks decreased by 91% to reach 19 million and 750 thousand dollars, compared to 230 million and 980 thousand and 358 dollars that went to strengthen balances abroad in the form of remittances and credits.
Our correspondent indicated that 32 banks have fulfilled requests to enhance balances abroad, and 12 banks have responded to cash requests, in addition to 137 mediating companies.
