The leader of the State of Law coalition, Fadel Mawat, considered, on Wednesday, that the current Speaker of Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, is not keen on the continuation of the current political process.
In an interview, Mwat said, "Al-Halbousi was not serious in taking a decision to return to parliament sessions, which contributes to disrupting many issues of the Iraqi people," stressing that "the Gulf ties affect Al-Halbousi in making the decision to return to parliament sessions."
He added, "We now need a brave decision similar to what the head of the Judicial Council took after the courts were disrupted in Iraq, and several warrants were also issued against those accused of being threatened by the Iraqi judiciary."
He continued, "Al-Halbousi represents a very large part of the responsibility that led to the current political impasse, for not taking a decision to hold the parliament session to vote on the posts of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister."
He pointed out that "there must be a solidarity of parliamentarians to pressure al-Halbousi in order to issue a decision to return parliament sessions."
The independent politician Saad Al-Mutalibi accused, in a previous interview, that “the Presidency of the House of Representatives deliberately disrupted the Council, indicating that the siege of the Sadrist movement’s supporters of the Judicial Council made the need to restore Parliament more important.” finished 25/J
