Baghdad / Obelisk: The Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed, on Tuesday, a movement to activate the Article 140 Committee, while indicating that there is a will to go towards legislation of the oil and gas law.
The representative of the Democratic Party, Majid Shankali, said that everyone is serious about resolving the problems between Baghdad and Erbil, and there is a serious will and real intention to go towards legislating the oil and gas law, and the Article 140 committee will be activated in some areas, but the issue needs more than that as it needs a census and then Go to a poll.
He added: All political leaders in the state administration coalition are under public pressure to move Iraq forward.
Regarding the region's share of the budget, Shankali pointed out that there are estimates from the Ministry of Planning and Trade that say that the Kurdistan region's share of the budget is 14%, and we are asking for 17%, and we may reach a middle state through negotiation, since the matter is not a sacred text.
He concluded his speech by saying: The Barti and the Yekti are destined for each other, and they must reach solutions. And if they cannot resolve the differences between them now, they should go to Baghdad together.
The federal government seeks to legislate the oil and gas law during the coming period.
This law will solve one of the most important outstanding problems between Baghdad and Erbil, which is oil revenues.
Under a political agreement that led to the formation of the Suwani government, Baghdad transferred $400 billion to the Kurdistan region, despite the continuing problems over the file of oil dues and other files.
It seems that Kurdistan is optimistic about the agreement with Al-Sudani to issue instructions in the government curriculum to avoid any escalatory measures, to wait in the procedures related to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the oil companies operating in it, and to legislate the oil and gas law within a period of 6 months.
As a result, this led to the suspension of all lawsuits filed by the Ministry of Oil against the oil companies operating in the region.
