    The Ministry of Transport organized an expanded workshop that witnessed an important presence of representatives of neighboring countries and the region, and the Italian company that designed the project, as well as a number of general managers in the ministry, researchers, economists, and those interested in this strategic project, in preparation for the international conference on the road to development, to be held at the end of this month.
    The ministry said in a statement that "a consultative meeting was organized by the General Company for Railways, at the Sheraton Hotel in the center of the capital, Baghdad, to highlight the development road project and its economic importance to Iraq and the region."
    She added, "The meeting witnessed the work of round tables, around which representatives of a number of countries, companies and experts sit, and important discussions and opinions were presented in support of the Iraqi project that serves the whole world."
    The representative of the Italian consulting company (PEG), which prepares the designs of the development method, reviewed the paths of the land and rail roads (a land route for trucks, and a fast railway line for travelers and goods) from the great port of Faw to the Turkish border, stressing its economic importance to all countries in the region.
