On Wednesday, Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim announced the intention to form a permanent private sector development council.
The Ministry of Planning said in a statement received by "Al-Iqtisad News", that "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Planning Muhammad Ali Tamim chaired the meeting of the Interim Council for the Development of the Private Sector in the presence and participation of representatives of federations, associations, syndicates, councils, organizations and economic activities, under the banner of the private sector."
Tamim stressed that "the government is strongly supportive of the private sector," pointing out that "the Ministry of Planning is ready to provide all possible facilities for the development of this vital sector, which represents a basic pillar of development, so the government relies a lot on the private sector, and its role in achieving economic growth." In the country".
He pointed out that "the time has come to form a permanent private sector development council, which will have a major role in drawing, taking and implementing economic policies and decisions, and therefore all economic activities in this sector must be represented and have a voice in this council." In order to be able to take the appropriate decision at the right time, in addition to the role of this council in following up the problems faced by the private sector, and working to address them.
The meeting witnessed an extensive discussion of the criteria for selecting the General Authority for the Permanent Council for the Development of the Private Sector, which included the capital criterion, the size of investment projects or the implemented business, the criterion of manpower employment, years of experience and competence, community contributions of public benefit, the criterion of commitment to paying taxes, and finally the criterion of registration Workers within the Social Security Department.
