Today, Tuesday (August 22, 2023), Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, reviewed the importance of the unified treasury account, stressing that it will contribute to fighting corruption and stopping the waste of public money, while stressing that all spending units in ministries and institutions should be obligated to the allocated allocations and not to exceed their account ceilings.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Finance received by "Baghdad Today", Minister Taif Sami Muhammad chaired today, Tuesday, a meeting with the heads and members of the Treasury Unified Account Committee (TSA), which was attended by directors of government banks and representatives of the Central Bank and the Board of Supreme Audit. The completion of the unified treasury account, and the subsequent positive indicators reflected on the financial and banking system.
And the Minister of Finance stressed the importance of doubling the work efforts of the sub-committees by obliging all spending units within ministries and institutions to allocate allocations for them and not to exceed their account ceilings, to reduce cases of out-of-control spending, in addition to doubling oversight and audit efforts regarding fixed and mobile accounts.
Sami explained that "the work on completing the project comes as part of the government's efforts to implement financial and banking reforms, and the unified treasury account will be an added contribution to anti-corruption measures and limiting the capacity of the corrupt, as well as stopping the waste of public money."
She referred to "a package of measures and procedures that the ministry is working on to control the movement of financial accounts to include various sectors and agencies, and to determine the accuracy of the financial data, in addition to moving towards updating the financing accounts towards the investment account and the current operational account."
