Iraqi agriculture declares self-sufficiency of 23 types of crops

Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture announced on Thursday that the country has reached self-sufficiency in a number of agricultural crops.
The Technical Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Mithaq Abdul-Hussein Al-Khafaji, told Shafaq News agency; That "Iraq has achieved self-sufficiency for more than 23 agricultural crops according to seasons, and an agricultural calendar covering all crops produced by Iraq."
He pointed out that "there is an increase in demand and an increase in population numbers, which requires an increase in agricultural crops and production," pointing out that "the statistics that occurred ten years ago differ now, and we found that there was a jump in agriculture in Iraq."
He pointed out that "Iraq exports more than 300-350 thousand tons of dates to the countries of the region and the world, and this year witnessed a significant increase in exports of dates, and we will see a jump in Iraqi exports during the coming period."
