The Network of Civil Organizations in Sulaymaniyah warned of the effects of delaying the payment of salaries on the lives of citizens in the region, calling on representatives of diplomatic missions to state their position on “the policy of starving the region’s employees.”
The head of the Network of Civil Organizations in Sulaymaniyah, Barham Qardaghi, said during a press conference, “The Kurdistan Regional Government must adhere to its pledges and pay employees’ salaries every thirty days without delay. The federal government should also not involve employees’ salaries in political differences and conflicts and not punish the citizens of the region.”
The Network of Civil Organizations called on representatives of countries to “state their position on the starvation of Kurdistan Region employees,” and also called on the Iraqi Federal Court and the Iraqi Council of Representatives to “end the methods of starvation of Kurdish citizens.”
Qardaghi stressed that “if the salary problem is not resolved as soon as possible, our position will be with the position of teachers, teachers, and employees.”
The head of the network stated that “tenants suffer from not paying rent for their homes for more than three months, and this causes them boredom, and some of them try to sell their “kidneys” to pay the debts they owe.”
There is a wide debate between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the provision of salaries, while the employee is the victim of disputes between the two parties as a result of not receiving all his entitlements.
