The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities has begun preparing regulations for including social protection categories in plots of land or housing units within the new cities project.
The ministry’s official spokesman, Nabil Al-Saffar, said in a statement to “Al-Sabah”: The Supreme Commission for Coordination between the Governorates issued a decision in the middle of this month, including the beneficiaries of the protection network with residential plots of land according to controls prepared by his ministry after approval by the Council of Ministers, adding that his ministry has begun preparing a study. Comprehensive and accurate to set the controls for this.
He stated that the study also includes the possibility of including martyrs in their three categories: victims of the deceased regime or terrorism, the wounded and martyrs of the Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as the displaced and the families of martyrs of the Ministries of Defense and Interior, in the housing units within the New Cities Project, especially since the controls of this project include allocating 15 percent of them to the relevant governorate for distribution among the categories. Al-Saffar explained that the team formed, headed by the Minister of Reconstruction, Bankin Rikani, and the relevant authorities, as soon as it finishes preparing the study and issues a draft of the controls, will submit it to the Prime Minister for approval and issue the decision to begin its implementation, pointing out that ministries such as Agriculture and Finance, as well as the Municipality of Baghdad, have serviced lands, and they can be allocated to these lands. Categories, provided that they are suitable for habitation and the construction of units on them.
