The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool Abdullah, said in a statement received by Mawazine News: “In order to preserve the integrity of the electoral process, and to keep it away from any negative influences, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed all military and security leaders, And the leaders and directors of the security services, and the commanders of the security and military formations, to work and commit to ensuring the free choices of members and fighters in private voting, and not to interfere, in any way, in their electoral choices.”
He added: "The Prime Minister also directed to prevent any signal or intimation that the affiliates and fighters could understand as electoral dictates, and stressed the highest level of control and follow-up regarding any case of interference in electoral choices or a link between the party and the electoral vote of the affiliate."
He continued, "The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces also stressed, in his directives, the importance of the free electoral voice of members and fighters, as citizens whose freedom of political choices is protected by the constitution and laws, just as they are protected against any pressure or attempts to influence other than their desires and choices."
