Today, Tuesday (December 5, 2023), the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed the military and security leaders not to interfere in the electoral choices of members of the security services.
The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Yahya Rasool, said, “In order to preserve the integrity of the electoral process and protect it from any negative effects, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, directed all military and security commanders, leaders and directors of the security services, and commanders of the security formations to... And the military, to work and commit to ensuring the free choices of members and fighters in private voting, and not to interfere, in any way, in their electoral choices.”
He added that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces "directed the prohibition of any signal or intimation that members and fighters understand as electoral dictates, and stressed the highest level of control and follow-up regarding any case of interference in electoral choices or a link between the party's electoral vote."
Al-Sudani stressed, according to the statement, which Baghdad Al-Youm received, “the importance of the free electoral voice of members and fighters, as citizens whose freedom of political choices is protected by the constitution and laws, just as they are protected against any pressure or attempts to influence other than their desires and choices.”
