    Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: On Thursday, member of the Strategic Planning Committee, Amer Abdul-Jabbar, accused the government of appointing the director of the Maritime Authority in violation of the law, indicating that violating the law cannot be passed without holding those negligent accountable.
    Abdul-Jabbar said in an interview followed by Al-Masala, “The government appointed the director of the Maritime Authority in violation of the Maritime Authority law.”
    He added, “The director of the authority is not specialized in his field of work, and he holds a specialty in political science, noting that the law stipulates that the head of the authority be appointed exclusively from the Naval Academy, and he has no less than 20 years of service.”
    He pointed out that “the current Minister of Transport refrains from replacing the head of the Maritime Authority who has flouted the law,” stressing that “the Minister of Transport is trying to amend the Maritime Authority law, and this is a major calamity in order to hold on to someone who does not have experience in the field of the Maritime Authority.”
