Member of the Parliamentary Services Committee, Hussein Habib, stressed today, Thursday, the necessity of passing the slum law to end the housing crisis in the country.

Habib said in an interview with the Maalouma Agency, “Article 30 of the Iraqi Constitution guarantees the citizen’s right to adequate housing.”
He added, "The project also aims to correct the legal status of those encroaching on the lands they have encroached upon by establishing residential homes and for the purpose of preventing encroachments on real estate belonging to the state."
He pointed out that "due to the lack of suitable housing for some groups, they were forced to settle in slum areas not designated for construction," stressing that "the slum law is one of the important laws that must be legislated within the House of Representatives, as it provides integrated solutions to this problem."
