Baghdad: Huda Al-Azzawi
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, in more than one position recently, reaffirmed Iraq's firm decision on the necessity of ending the presence and departure of international coalition forces from Iraqi territory, and yesterday, Saturday, the spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, confirmed that there is no need for any forces. Foreign affairs within Iraqi territory, and that the Iraqi government is moving towards ending the foreign presence in Iraq and has a vision in the next stage that includes joint technical work to end the mission of the international coalition and move to the levels of bilateral security and military cooperation in armament and advice.
The expert in security and military affairs, retired Major General Dr. Imad Alo, indicated in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the long experience and advanced level of armament used by the Iraqi armed forces and the high training they received have given the armed forces of all types the ability to pursue and pursue ISIS members.” ) terrorist organizations, in addition to the high level of their capabilities in confronting internal security challenges, and this issue has become known at the regional and global levels.” He pointed out that "Iraq today ranks 45th in the number of armies and is at a high degree of progress. Therefore, the justifications for the presence of foreign forces, especially the international coalition forces, to fight the terrorist organization ISIS no longer have a clear justification, specifically in light of the many violations committed." “It was committed by the American forces under Iraqi sovereignty and carried out by bombing the positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces in a number of governorates, the last of which was in the capital, Baghdad.”
He noted, "The attempt to end the presence of foreign forces is not a new issue. As soon as Iraq defeated the terrorist organization (ISIS), the Iraqi government began negotiations to schedule the withdrawal of the American international coalition forces through the strategic dialogue between Washington and Baghdad, and the formation of a military technical committee that was headed at the time by Lt. Gen. Colonel Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, and this committee took it upon itself to set a timetable and begin negotiations for the exit of foreign forces from Iraq, and also to determine the requirements and prospects for future dealings between Iraq and the countries that were under the shadow of this alliance, including the American forces and NATO forces, and also to find emerging cooperation. Between this committee and NATO, a training and advisory team was sent by them to support the armed forces in their efforts to pursue and prosecute ISIS gangs and raise their military capabilities.” He explained, "All of the above is a clear justification for the absence of the need for the international coalition forces to remain, especially after the deviation of the mission of these forces, represented by the forces of the United States of America, from the mandate given to them in Iraq, which is to follow up, prosecute, and wage war against the terrorist organization (ISIS)." In turn, the international affairs analyst, Dr. Haider Salman, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “the presence of foreign forces in Iraq has become a disturbing episode for Iraqi politics and a major pressure on the Iraqi people. These forces are still present since Iraq declared victory over ISIS.” ISIS), the terrorist that was the reason for its existence, has disappeared, but it still exists and its presence has become a major problem and division between the components, and its departure from the mandate given to it to pursue terrorist elements and its tendency to target major figures, to constitute a defining moment tinged with caution regarding the relationship between Iraq and the presence of forces "International Alliance."
He added, "All successive governments are certain that they cannot expel the United States forces in an unfriendly manner, as they are linked to them politically, economically, and even socially after the fall of the regime in 2003, and therefore the Iraqi government is trying to expel them in a friendly manner in line with internal wills." Salman pointed out that “the strongest statements in this regard came from Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani that there will be a process of removing the forces by the committee composed of the two parties, especially since we have security forces capable of maintaining security after the end of the terrorist ISIS phase, and that The presence of foreign forces is not compatible with the Iraqi situation, with the presence of one million six hundred thousand security personnel present in various agencies, and we have no need for foreign coalition forces to remain in Iraq.”
