Member of the House of Representatives, independent MP Alaa Al-Haidari, expects that the position of Speaker of Parliament will remain vacant until the end of the current session.
Al-Haidari said, in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News, that “proceeding with the law amending the internal regulations of Parliament is not expected to pass, indicating that there is a high consensus among the political blocs to give confidence to Salem Al-Issawi, to head Parliament.”
He added, "The Shiite framework seeks to resolve the crisis of the presidency of Parliament as soon as possible, stressing that the Shiite political forces in general will not exclude the selection of a speaker for Parliament, but rather only want to end this problem that has taken more than its time."
He pointed out that "it is expected that the position of Speaker of Parliament will remain vacant and without any president from any party until the end of the current parliamentary session."
