Member of the Parliamentary Security Committee, Representative Yasser Iskandar, confirmed today, Monday, that his committee will hold a session after the end of the legislative recess to amend the military retirement law.
Iskandar said in a statement followed by Mawazine News, “The military retirement law is a legal cover that guarantees the rights of members of the security forces in all their formations and specifies several advantages for a segment that has made many sacrifices for the security and stability of the country.”
He added, "Five reasons are currently pressing for important amendments to the provisions of the Military Retirement Law regarding salaries, rights, and other privileges through our meetings with dozens of retirees over the past months."
He pointed out that "the Parliamentary Security Committee will hold a session after the end of the legislative recess to discuss the details that can be amended according to the powers and the possibility of addressing the government in order to make other amendments and submit them to the House of Representatives regarding financial powers."
Military retirees complain of low pension salaries, especially retirees before and after 2003, compared to new retirees from the security forces.
