A statement by the Prime Minister's Media Office received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) stated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani "opened a number of military production factories and rehabilitation laboratories in the General Military Industries Company, within the industrial complex affiliated with the Military Industrialization Authority south of Baghdad, and was briefed on the progress of work and production in other military factories."
He added that "the Prime Minister also inaugurated the light equipment production factory, the qualitative testing laboratories factory and the firing ranges for the light equipment production line, the mortar shell factory, and workshops for hot forging and aluminum injection in the factory, in addition to the inauguration of the iron alloys and colored metals factory in the General Military Industries Company," indicating that "Al-Sudani's visit to the complex witnessed the inauguration of the first phase of the rehabilitation and maintenance laboratory for distribution and power transformers, where it was agreed to contract with the Ministry of Electricity according to the annual production capacity of the factory."
He indicated that "the Prime Minister launched the executive work on the projects of the capsule factory for light ammunition, and the factory for the production of military and civilian boats, and was briefed on the executive work of the medium equipment production and oil production project, and followed up on the work in the electric car production factory in the Military Industries Company The Prime Minister praised, in his speech, "the efforts of the Military Industrialization Authority and its working staff, who have experience and well-known positions in the Iraqi military industry. He also appreciated the efforts of Iraqi companies and friendly companies
, stressing that since the approval of the Military Industrialization Authority Law (25 of 2019), the Authority has witnessed the launch of a group of factories and the laying of the foundation stone for other factories, as we stand before approximately 12 factories, some of which will be completed by the end of this year, as part of the government's development program."
Al-Sudani stressed during his speech during the opening that "the launch of military manufacturing at the level of various equipment, or civilian activities, especially the needs of the Ministry of Electricity, is not measured only by the provision of hard currency, but by what military manufacturing means, as it is one of the foundations of the requirements of Iraqi sovereignty," directing "the security ministries to adopt the products of the Military Industrialization Authority to meet their needs, and he also directed the Ministry of Defense to review all committees concerned with arms contracts and the file of delivering scrap material, and for the Military Industrialization Authority to submit a position within a period of one week."
He said: "The Military Industrialization Authority has begun its major steps towards a military defense industry with the efforts of its sons and their well-known expertise, and we are facing a product that conforms to the standards, tests and clear accreditation, and with the latest production lines."
The Prime Minister continued: "We found high ambition, potential, vision and readiness among the workers in the Military Industries Company," indicating: "Today we are establishing a military industry that ensures sovereignty in securing the requirements of our security services."
He stressed: "The presence of terrorist gangs has ended, but the challenges remain, whether in dormant cells within extremist ideology, or security challenges on the Iraqi borders."
He said:“The region is witnessing changes and developments, and there is an unprecedented regional and international growth in terms of armament capabilities. We must have a vision, planning, and military industry that achieves Iraq’s security, sovereignty, and unity, which is achieved by having an advanced military industry.”
He stated: "We have a clear law and continuous support for the military industry, through Cabinet decisions that approve financial allocations or ensure the provision of raw materials, and we stress the literal implementation of Cabinet decisions on the issue of securing raw materials for military manufacturing companies, and military manufacturing products are marketed to security ministries according to the laws, and there is no justification for any security agency not to secure its needs from the products of the Military Industrialization Authority."
The Prime Minister called on "the representatives to exercise their oversight role and deal with any arms import contracts and audit them, and they will be subject to accountability by the executive or legislative oversight bodies," stressing that "the Ministry of Interior has made progress in contracting with the Military Industrialization Authority."
He pointed out: "We have directed all other security agencies to abide by the Cabinet decision, and this is an issue that is not subject to the interpretations of any security official," stressing that "support for the military industry begins with the commitment of state institutions to receive the products."
He pointed out that "the Cabinet will continue its great support for the Military Industrialization Authority, and what we found today calls for optimism."[/size]
