The Ministry of Justice stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "a delegation headed by Mohammed Radi Bahr, Director General of the Juvenile Reform Department of the Federal Ministry of Justice, visited the Kurdistan Region, where he met with the President of the Erbil Court of Appeal, Judge Raed Hamid Hussein, and the Director General of the Social Reform Department in the region. The visit came with the aim of developing a joint working paper to determine the mechanism for transferring expertise in the field of legal and reformative dealings with detained juveniles, which would positively reflect on the reform process between the two parties, in line with the laws and instructions in force."
According to the statement, the two sides expressed "great agreement in visions and ideas, as both the President of the Erbil Court of Appeal and the Director General of the Social Reform Department welcomed the visit, which was the first of its kind," stressing "the need to continue these visits to enhance cooperation and develop the reform process."
Bahr pointed out that "this visit represents an important step in strengthening relations between the Federal Ministry of Justice and reform institutions in the Kurdistan Region," stressing "the importance of exchanging expertise and continuous cooperation to achieve common goals in the field of social and legal reform."[/size]
