Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced on Monday that his country will resume electricity exports to Iraq starting on Sunday.
"As of yesterday (Sunday), we have resumed exporting electricity to Iraq, with which we will contribute to the prosperity and peace of our region through the Development Road project," Bayraktar said in a post on the X platform.
He added: "Through the investments we will make, we will make the development road project an energy road as well."
It is noteworthy that Iraq needs more than 40 thousand megawatts to provide electricity around the clock, while its current production, with imports from Iran, does not exceed 27 thousand megawatts.
