The draft general amnesty law will be included in the next two sessions of the House of Representatives

The political blocs agreed to include the general amnesty bill on the agenda of the next parliament session.
Member of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Raad Al-Dahlaki, said in a statement, “We bring good news to our innocent detainee brothers and their families by agreeing during the meeting of the heads of the political blocs today to include the general amnesty bill during the next two sessions for the first reading and proceed with voting on it and doing them justice inside the parliament dome, after years of suffering and injustice as a result of the secret informant and malicious accusations.”
Since the formation of the government of Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the general amnesty law has faced an uncertain fate despite the political agreement to legislate it. However, observers have indicated the existence of political will, especially from the Coordination Framework, to obstruct the law and not adhere to the promises previously given to other parties (Sunnis) to ensure their participation in the new government.
The general amnesty law is one of the most prominent demands of the Sunni blocs, which stipulated its approval during the negotiations to form the state administration, which included the Shia Coordination Framework and the Kurdish and Sunni blocs, which resulted in the formation of the new government headed by Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani.
The government program, according to Sunni MPs, includes issuing a general amnesty law, security checks in their governorates, and cancelling or suspending the work of bodies that were a source of concern and crisis for them.
