Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Parliament voted on Wednesday to amend the civil servants’ law, while the Council Presidency decided to withdraw the amendment to the Personal Status Law submitted by the Legal Committee.
The media department of the House of Representatives stated that the House held its session headed by the Acting Speaker of the House, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, with the attendance of 194 representatives.
The Council voted on the twenty-first amendment to the Staff Law No. 25 of 1960.
The Staff Law is concerned with determining the number of job grades needed by ministries and departments in the Iraqi government according to the calculations of deletion, creation and actual need. It was first issued in 1956, to be cancelled and replaced by the current law in 1960, which has undergone more than 20 amendments over the course of successive governments in Iraq.
In addition, the Iraqi Parliament decided to withdraw the "controversial" amendment to the Personal Status Law from the session's agenda, due to political differences over the amendment.
The Council also began the first reading of the draft law on service and retirement for the Mujahideen of the Popular Mobilization Authority.
The head of the parliamentary security and defense committee, Karim Aliwi, told Shafaq News Agency, "This law does justice to the heroes of the Popular Mobilization Forces and their sacrifices and provides all their rights."
