The Ministry of Agriculture has adopted modern global technologies used for the first time to combat desertification. According to experts, sand dunes cover more than four million acres in the country.
The Director General of the Horticulture and Forestry Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Bassam Kanaan Abdul Jabbar, stated in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Eqtisad News”, that his department has adopted a modern global technology that is being applied for the first time in the country to confront desertification, namely (water boxes), each of which holds 15 to 20 liters of water and is filled through basins, with the aim of providing water to the plant gradually through threaded pipes.
