Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Asadi announced today, Friday, the activation of the empowerment and jobs platform for people with disabilities through the electronic portal, Or, starting from Thursday, 8/1/2024.
The head of the Authority for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs at the Ministry, Dhikra Abdul Rahim, said, “The Empowerment and Jobs Platform is an electronic service dedicated to persons with disabilities, aiming to empower them (socially, economically, medically, educationally and professionally) through appropriate vocational training for persons with disabilities and special needs and developing their capabilities according to the needs of the labor market.”
She stressed the importance of "training families of people with disabilities and special needs on how to deal with them properly, care for them and look after them in a way that does not affect their dignity, in order to achieve their social integration, and providing free seats in private schools for people with disabilities and special needs from low-income families, in addition to exempting people with disabilities and special needs from the years of waiting for external study at all educational levels."
She stressed the need to "provide free scholarships for people with disabilities in Iraqi universities for those below the poverty line, provide free health services for people with disabilities and special needs, secure the costs of treatment inside and outside Iraq, including operations or any other requirements, and benefit from medical aids (prosthetic limbs, chairs, supports)."
