    Economy News - Baghdad
[rtl]The Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee confirmed, today, Friday, the continuation of major security campaigns in Iraq to reduce foreign labor crimes after their numbers increased.[/rtl]
[rtl]Committee member Alawi Al-Bandawi said, “Illegal foreign labor poses a security risk, as this labor has contributed to the rise of some crimes, including theft and human trafficking,” indicating that “some of these workers are exploited by human trafficking gangs.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He explained that "this danger led to the launch of major security campaigns to track down these illegal workers and dismantle networks specialised in bringing in these workers," noting that "the security campaigns are ongoing and continuous, and these workers are being uncovered on a daily basis in most Iraqi governorates."[/rtl]
[rtl]According to the latest statistics, there are more than one million foreign workers working in Iraq, the vast majority of whom are illegal workers and do not have records. Of these, only 71,000 workers have work permits. According to statistics, more than 900,000 foreign workers, or 92.9 percent, work illegally in Iraq.[/rtl]
