The team's deputy head, Adnan Al-Arabi, said that the Prime Ministry has tasked the government communication team with selecting 18,000 homes in Baghdad, among the poorest and most energy-consuming areas, to connect a 20-ampere solar energy system to the roofs of residential homes.

He explained that the team formed field committees in coordination with the relevant authorities and solar energy producing companies with which an agreement was reached, to work on connecting these systems, and has already chosen 50 homes inhabited by citizens from the poor, needy and low-income groups to connect the system.

He pointed out that the team will proceed to select other areas successively, until the previously specified number is completed, stressing that the procedure is included in the plan to transition to the optimal use of solar energy, as an alternative to the electricity shortage, with funding from the Central Bank of Iraq, according to Al-Sabah newspaper.
