[ltr]The White House announced that US President Donald Trump intends to withdraw his troops from Syria as soon as possible after French President Emmanuel Macaron said he persuaded Trump to stay in Syria.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The US mission has not changed and the president was clear that he wanted the troops back home as soon as possible," White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.[/ltr]
[ltr]In addition, we expect our allies and regional partners to assume greater responsibility militarily and financially to secure the region, "she said.[/ltr]
[ltr]Hours before the White House statement, the French president said he convinced the US president to stay in Syria, adding that he also persuaded him to limit strikes in Syria to chemical sites only.[/ltr]
[ltr]Tramp was announced in Ohio late last March that his country would withdraw soon from Syria "and leave others interested in it," which surprised the State Department, which immediately announced that it had no information on plans to withdraw US forces from Syria.[/ltr]
