Oil Minister Jabbar al-Allaibi discussed on Tuesday with a Russian company the possibility of developing the oil and gas sectors in the country.
The ministry said in a press statement, read by the "Economy News" that "Oil Minister Jabbar Ali al-Allaibi, received the Director General of the company (Soyuz Naft gas) Russian Gisa Goshitl and the accompanying delegation and discussed the prospects of expanding joint cooperation to implement oil projects in the country" .
"The ministry is keen to build solid relations of cooperation with international companies and to create the appropriate environment for the implementation of projects and to achieve common goals and interests," he said.
For his part, the Director General of the company "Soyuz Naft Gas" Russian company's desire to "expand the horizons of joint work with the Ministry and its national companies to cooperate optimally in the implementation of projects in the oil fields."
Leading Russian companies, such as Gazprom Oil and Lukoil, are contributing significantly to Iraq's oil sector, as well as Russian investments in the field, amounting to $ 10 billion.
Ross has signed contracts with the Kurdistan government to invest about 3 billion dollars in the energy sector, at a time Baghdad confirms that all deals concluded by Erbil without their consent is illegal.
The Russian company last November handed over about $ 1.3 billion to the region under the contract as prepaid oil supplies, used by Arbil to repay the debts of foreign companies operating on its territory, and will invest the remaining funds in infrastructure projects and develop five oil fields.
Baghdad has confirmed many times, it is in the solution of the oil contract concluded by the Kurdistan Regional Government with Ross Naft, calling on the company to negotiate with them directly.
