Allawi's party calls for postponement of local elections to 2020

Called the National Accord Party headed by Iyad Allawi, on Monday, to postpone the provincial elections and determine the beginning of next year 2020 as a date for remedying the "big mistakes" that accompanied the parliamentary elections and not repeated.
"The current commission will not be able to run an honest and transparent electoral process because of the great shortcomings in its performance, and the past elections have been accompanied by suspicions of fraud and manipulation confirmed by the Council of Ministers and former MPs," the party said in a statement.
He called on the party to "re-evaluate the work of provincial councils and establish new foundations for them and assign the task of running its elections to the judiciary," warning that "to benefit from any electoral process under the supervision of the current Commission and the current election law is unfair."
The party referred to "the memo sent by Iyad Allawi to the leaders and heads of blocs and political parties and forces in August of 2016, which called for the change of the Electoral Commission and the administration of the administration to the judiciary," adding that "if the political forces listened to that advice did not reach us to what Arrived today.
