Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs revealed, on Saturday, efforts to increase the salary of a full-time appointee.
The Ministry's media director, Najm Al-Uqabi, told the official news agency, "The Authority for Persons with Disabilities has developed an integrated government program to support this category and advance its reality in Iraq through the rehabilitation and training of people with disabilities, to become active members of society and to engage them in the labor market in professions that suit the nature of each person." Obstruction and the establishment of sports and entertainment clubs for them, as well as the establishment of an advanced database that attracts all members of this category in Iraq, and the issuance of identification cards for them in order to enjoy the privileges of the law.
He stressed that "the commission seeks to increase the salary of the full-time appointee, as it is in accordance with the eighth degree of the employee salary scale law, instead of the tenth degree as it is now, and all of this is subject to the amendment of the law and the availability of necessary financial allocations."
He added, "The Law of Persons with Disabilities is not optimally implemented, as there are tasks for government ministries referred to in Article 15 of the law, which implement the law in a good manner, and some do not implement those tasks," noting that "the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Adel Al-Rikabi, seeks to amend Some paragraphs of the law to fit the requirements of this category.
With regard to the ministry’s position on child labor, Al-Aqabi pointed out that “the Ministry of Labor has a unit to combat child labor in the inspection department, and this unit is tasked with educating employers not to use children for work, in addition to submitting complaints against violators of employers who employ children, and helping to return children to work. The children are allowed to study with the child’s family being included in the care salary after obtaining the approval of the Minister. Ended 29/R77
