The Iraqi agriculture takes 3 decisions for the winter plan, the most prominent of which is the addition of about 100,000 acres
Shafaq News/ Today, Sunday, the Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Al-Khafaji, chaired a meeting of the National Seed Council, to discuss the minutes of the meeting and topics related to the activity of the agricultural plan for the 2021-2022 agricultural season, and a number of decisions were issued by the meeting, most notably the addition of about 100,000 acres.
Al-Khafaji stressed, according to a statement received by Shafak News Agency, "to take the right ways, by the way, and to follow scientific methods to serve the agricultural process and the success of the 2021-2022 agricultural season."
He also stressed the "importance of the success of the agricultural plan for the current winter season by adopting the necessary and successful scientific methods in order to serve the agricultural sector, farmers and farmers and increase local production."
After discussing the topics on the agenda, the council voted on the following:
1. Approval of adding an area of (95,000) dunams (irrigated wells) within the agricultural plan for the wheat crop for the current winter season.
2. Exchanging the rights of breeders of wheat varieties from the seed support fund.
3. Approval of adding a financial allocation to the national program for the development of seed testing and certification laboratories and for the preservation and maintenance of plant genetic resources.
The council discussed the prices of the seeds of the higher ranks of the wheat crop for the Agricultural Research Department and the Mesopotamian General Seed Company, and that they should be equal.
