    The Information/Baghdad…
The Independent High Electoral Commission announced, on Tuesday, that it is awaiting the re-convening of Parliament sessions to legislate the provincial elections law, the latest draft of which witnessed a third amendment, in 15 articles, in addition to differences over some items, especially the item related to multiple constituencies.
And a member of the Commission's Council, Ahlam Al-Jabri, said in a statement reported by "Al-Sabah" newspaper and seen by "The Information", that "the Commission is awaiting parliamentary legislation to begin its preparations for the provincial elections, as it defines a number of mechanisms that the Commission can follow, and then set a schedule to reach the day of the procedure. The election".
Al-Jabri added, "The commission's work did not end with the announcement of the results of the parliamentary elections that took place in October of last year, but it is in the process of completing the extraction of statistics and percentages and addressing the failure points wherever they are found."
Al-Jabri, who chairs the Women's Support and Empowerment Committee at the Commission, confirmed that "the Foundation has worked over the past two years and before the recent elections to establish educational programs and development courses for women voters and candidates in the new parliamentary session."
Iraqi law stipulates that local council elections be held every 4 years, to elect local governments from among the governors and their representatives.
The last local council elections were held in 2013, and the 2017 elections were not held due to the failure to liberate some provinces from the control of ISIS terrorist gangs. finished/25
