Al-Sadr comments on the Turkish military operation: We will not be silent, as Iraq is a fully sovereign country
Shafaq News/ The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, said that Iraq "will not be silent" in the event of repeated Turkish bombing of Iraqi lands, in response to Turkey's launching yesterday, Monday, the "claw lock" operation to pursue members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) inside Kurdistan Region.
Al-Sadr said in a statement, "Neighbour, Turkey, has bombed Iraqi lands unjustly and without pretext, and if there is a danger coming from Iraqi lands, it must coordinate with the Iraqi government to end the danger. The Iraqi security forces are capable of that."
He added, "If this is repeated from her, we will not remain silent about that, because Iraq is a fully sovereign state and will not accept aggression and destabilization of security in its lands. It will also not accept aggression against brotherly and friendly neighboring countries. Note that we are among those who favor strengthening joint and balanced relations with all neighboring countries... as well as dealing with Likewise, diplomatically and security, so that our dealings are in accordance with the established diplomatic frameworks.
On Monday, Iraq condemned the military operation launched by the Turkish army to pursue elements of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) inside Iraqi territory.
The official spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by Shafak News Agency; The Government of the Republic of Iraq categorically rejects, and strongly condemns the military operations carried out by the Turkish forces by bombing the Iraqi lands in the Mutina area, Al-Zab, Afashin and Bassian in northern Iraq, through Atak helicopters and drones.
She added that Iraq considers this act a violation of its sovereignty and the sanctity of the country, and an act that violates international covenants and laws that regulate relations between countries. It also violates the principle of good neighbourliness, which should be a reason for ensuring that participatory security work is carried out in the service of both sides.
The statement continued; The Iraqi government confirms that the territory of Iraq shall not be; A headquarters or corridor to inflict harm on any of the neighboring countries, and it also refuses that Iraq should be an arena for conflicts and settling scores for other external parties.
