Oil expert Hamza Al-Jawahiri accused, on Tuesday, three parties behind the smuggling of imported oil products to the Kurdistan region and then outside the country, indicating that the amount of smuggled oil products is more than a third of the imported and subsidized products from the money of the Iraqi people.
Al-Jawahiri said in a statement to “Information” that “Iraq’s actual need, including the region, of petroleum products, gasoline, gasoline and others, is up to (7) liters per day, according to the ministry’s statistics two months ago, but what the Ministry of Oil imports is about 16 million barrels per day.”
He added that "the difference between the quantity that Iraq needs and the quantity imported is more than a third, and this third goes to smuggling outside the country through the region without accountability or oversight," accusing "three parties behind the smuggling operation, the first of which is the senior politicians in the region and the carrier companies that falsify documents for sending products and the third Drivers of trucks carrying petroleum products.
Al-Jawahiri pointed out that "the process of raising import quantities coincided with the rise in global oil prices, and this clearly indicates the government's condoning of these parties for well-known political and financial reasons."
The Assistant Director General of the Petroleum Products Company, Director of Inspection at the Ministry of Oil, Ihsan Musa Ghanem, had confirmed in a previous statement that the Ministry of Oil imports 16 million liters of oil products per day, while it could import between 8 to 9 million liters per day without smuggling operations. finished / 25 AD
