The Director of the Fuel Center in the Ministry of Electricity, Saad Freih Jassim, said, "Iraq has two contracts with neighboring Iran since 2017, to supply 35 million cubic meters of gas per day, from May to October of each year for the central and southern regions, and their total amounts to 70 million."
He added, "Iraq has debts payable as a result of importing gas, amounting to one billion and 640 million dollars, and paying them to ensure the continuation of flows," noting that "under the current situation, Iraq needs 6-10 years to dispense with Iranian gas, until the Ministry of Oil is able to complete its projects." Providing Iraq's needs through free gas in the Cruz and Al-Mansuriya areas, and completing its investments for associated gas.
