Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs revealed statistics for foreign workers, while noting that more than 71,000 foreign workers have been granted official leave.
"The ministry's statistics for foreign workers are for those who have been granted an official work permit," Najm Al-Aqabi, a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor, said.
He explained, "Illegal foreign workers cannot be counted by any party, because most of them come to the country as a visitor or tourist, or through the Kurdistan region and thus entered the labor market."
He added, "According to the latest statistics for the current month of April, the number of foreign workers who were granted an official work permit reached 71,146 workers."
