The Parliamentary Regions and Governorates Committee confirmed, on Tuesday, that the holding of the provincial council elections is settled and will take place according to the date set by the government program, indicating that three main factors for holding the elections are available.
Member of the committee, Representative Muhammad Al-Shammari, said in a press statement, "The government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani is in the process of discussing the local elections law for the provincial councils with the Election Commission, with the aim of completing it and sending it to the House of Representatives for approval."
Al-Shammari added, "The holding of the provincial elections is decided and will take place according to the date set by the government program," noting that "three main factors for holding the elections are available, which are the presence of political will and preparations are continuing with the Electoral Commission for the purpose of preparing logistical procedures, and that the budget will include funds allocated for conducting the elections."
It is noteworthy that the government program of the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani has set a date for holding elections in October of the current year.
