The Minister of Justice, Dr. Khaled Shwani, announced today, Wednesday, that Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani has formed a committee regarding the general amnesty law, while indicating that there are no absentees in the correctional services.
The Minister of Justice said in a press statement, "The Prime Minister, Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani, has long ago formed a committee for the purpose of preparing a draft general amnesty law," noting that, "when it is completed, it will be an achievement for all political blocs affiliated within the state administration coalition."
Regarding enforced disappearance, the Minister of Justice stated, "The Ministry of Justice is the body concerned with answering international reports on human rights, and Iraq is part of the Convention against Enforced Disappearance."
