Shafaq News/ Today, Tuesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, issued a statement in which he congratulated the people of Kurdistan on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of their uprising against the Baath Party regime at the beginning of the 1990s, stressing the possibility of the people confronting the threats that lurk against the federal system, its rights and gains, and the constitutional entity. For the region.
Shafaq News Agency publishes the text of the statement issued by President Nechirvan Barzani:
On the thirty-third anniversary of the glorious uprising of the people of Kurdistan, I congratulate the proud families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmerga, and all the sons of the people of Kurdistan with all their components. Greetings and peace to the memory of the heroic martyrs of the uprising and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.
The people of Kurdistan rose up on March 5, 1991, starting from the city of Rania, the gateway to the uprising, carrying their soul on their hands and not afraid to die for the sake of freedom, thus ending one of the bloodiest eras of injustice and dictatorship. This people will never give up freedom and the sacred goals of the uprising.
The uprising was victorious with the faith and great will of the people of Kurdistan for freedom and dignity, and through unity and cohesion, its gains were confirmed in the federal constitution of Iraq. Now, through unity, the people of Kurdistan can stand up to the threats that lurk against federalism, their rights and gains, and the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region, and ensure a better future for their coming generations.
The sacred goals of the uprising, which are life, freedom, democracy, a secure and advanced society, building the present and a better future, and a strong Kurdistan that will be the cradle of coexistence, acceptance of others, and tolerance, can only be achieved through joint action, a unified position, and solidarity.
History has shown that disagreement and discord are extremely bitter experiences that greatly damage status, opportunities, and gains. Therefore, the victory of the uprising must be a lesson and a permanent roadmap for all of us. Let us all join hands with faith and hope and work to overcome challenges and difficulties in order to achieve a better future.
A tribute to the memory of the uprising, and to the loyal and steadfast people of Kurdistan, a tribute to the pure souls of the martyrs.
    Nechirvan Barzani
    President of the Kurdistan Region
