The former member of Parliament, Jassem Al-Bayati, revealed today, Wednesday, the main reason behind the threats of the President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, regarding the issue of Kirkuk, and regarding the positions of the Kurdish representatives as a “provocation”, among the “dilemma” that the region suffers from .
Al-Bayati said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, that "the positions of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the representatives of the Democratic Party on the province of Kirkuk are a provocation," noting that "the head of the Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, does not care about Kirkuk at the present time as much as the financial dilemma that the Kurdistan region suffers from." .
He added, "The region suffers from a number of files, including the lack of employee salaries, in addition to internal problems, disputes between Kurdish parties, and even between the same family, as well as demands for fines from oil companies operating in Kurdistan."
The former deputy explained, "All these problems need money, and therefore Barzani's threats are an attempt to obtain some privileges from the federal government, and this is the origin of the demand."
Al-Bayati said, "The issue of Kirkuk is a pretext for obtaining funds from the Baghdad government."
Earlier, the official of the Turkmen Front in Kirkuk Governorate, Qahtan Al-Wandawi, confirmed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party seeks to control the joint operations headquarters in Kirkuk with the aim of achieving victory for it at the expense of the security services and the prestige of the state.
In the past few days, the province of Kirkuk witnessed tensions and clashes with the security forces, incited by Masoud Barzani's party, through mobilization of the masses and fueling statements. Ended 25/R
