The Ministry of Commerce announced, on Tuesday, the preparation of a plan to distribute food and social care baskets, all at once, noting that thousands of tons of various food materials and commodities have been secured through its marketing outlets at subsidized prices.
The Ministry’s Director General of Planning and Follow-up, Talib Hassan Neama, said in an interview followed by Mawazine News, that “the Ministry has prepared a strategic plan to secure the items of the two food baskets and social care in one payment without delay or shortage of any material,” stressing that “his ministry has a stock of wheat.” The food supplies are sufficient for six months.
Nehme confirmed, "His Ministry has secured thousands of tons of various food materials and commodities through its marketing outlets and mobile vehicles in various regions at subsidized prices, for the purpose of stabilizing food prices and preventing them from being monopolized by the weak in the local markets.
