Erbil Commission continues to receive lists of candidates from alliances and parties

The Independent High Electoral Commission, Erbil Elections Office, called on the agents of political parties, civil society organizations, unions, electoral monitoring networks and various media institutions to visit the office headquarters.
The office’s media officer, Ahmed Mazen, told Al-Sabah: “Preparations are underway and ongoing for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections scheduled for October 20th. He called on political parties, civil society organizations, unions, electoral monitoring networks, media institutions, satellite channels, radio stations, newspapers, and local news agencies to visit the office’s headquarters for the purpose of issuing accreditation badges to participate in monitoring and covering the electoral process.”
He added that the office is continuing to distribute biometric voter cards in 53 registration centers, as well as 85 mobile teams to distribute them.
He explained that the Commission's office continues to receive lists of candidates for alliances, parties, individual candidates, and candidates of components wishing to participate in the parliamentary elections until the middle of this month, noting that 2 coalitions, 13 parties, 7 Christian quotas, 14 Turkmen quotas, 35 independent candidates, and 3 expressing a desire to participate have been registered until the report is prepared, stressing that the numbers are subject to change.
He pointed out that the Commission is continuing to open the door for applications to work as polling staff for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament elections for those who did not have the opportunity to apply previously until the 23rd of this month via the Commission’s link.
