    Baghdad Today - Follow-up
The head of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Samad Hassan Zadeh, warned today, Thursday (July 11, 2024), of losing the Iraqi market during the coming months of the year.
"The inability to benefit from the services of the Iraqi banking system raises the prices of Iran's export products by about 20-25%," Zadeh said in a press statement, warning that "if the problems of money transfer continue in this way, Iran will not be able to be present in the Iraqi market in the next few months."
He added, "In light of the current situation of the Iranian economy, which is going through one of its darkest crises, joint chambers play an important role in developing exports and trade relations with foreign countries," indicating that "thanks to their good relations, joint chambers have been able to solve some of the problems of Iranian traders, including problems in issuing work visas, and make the course of foreign trade smoother."
He stated that "studies are being conducted to harmonize the programs of joint chambers and improve their performance," explaining that "the Board of Directors of the Iran Chamber is studying the main demands of the joint chambers, including the membership of a number of their representatives in the delegations of the Iran Chamber, handing over matters related to sending and accepting delegations and attending foreign exhibitions to the joint chambers, reviewing the classification criteria of the joint chambers, providing financial assistance to the chamber from the joint chambers based on the new classification, and so on."
Zadeh stressed that "these proposals were agreed upon in the Iran Chamber and we want to stand by the joint chambers. We are determined to develop as many joint chambers as possible," noting that "I believe that with the election of the new president and his interest in communicating with the private sector, a good opportunity has now appeared for the chamber and joint chambers to cooperate with the government, which should be exploited."
Pointing out that a third of Iran's exports go to Iraq, he stressed: We may lose the Iraqi market soon due to trade problems between Iran and Iraq .
He stressed "the need for joint chambers to intervene in trade between the two countries and create conditions so that we can work cooperatively in their markets."
In turn, the International Deputy of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Hamed Askari, pointed out that "the meetings held by his planning committee with the heads of the joint chambers and our efforts may focus on reducing the distance between the joint chambers and the Iranian Chamber as much as possible."
“Fortunately, this year, with the support of the Board of Directors, the budget for the common rooms has quadrupled over the past year, which will be good news for these rooms,” he stressed.
The Secretary of the Joint Chamber of Iran-Iraq, Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi, also saw that "there are many parallel works related to the duties of the joint chambers by organizations and chambers across the country, which need to be investigated and planned."
Secretary of the Iranian-Brazilian Joint Chamber, Hajar Nezami, said, "The international deputy of the Iranian Chamber should try to get a seat in the joint economic committees."
